I originally trained and qualified as a mining engineer, working for 32 years in the coal industry. At the end of 1994, just prior to privatisation, I left and went back to college to study and qualify in professional photography.
Subsequently I set up as a self employed professional photographer and have worked as such ever since. My specialist subject is dogs. I did work for OUR DOGS, a national dog newspaper, for 17 years. Starting as an official photographer, I covered dog shows throughout the UK and eventually ended up as photographer manager. This involved me organising the team of photographers and also looking for potential new ones and training them to become dog photographers of the standard required. Throughout this time I also did other commission work which didn’t always include dogs.
Nowadays I just do private commission work. Much of it still involves dogs but I also do photography of other subjects. This includes weddings, portraits, studio work. industrial, advertising etc
